ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Henderson Mental Health Center is south Florida's oldest and largest not-for-profit behavioral healthcare provider, serving more than 18,000 children and adults each year. Henderson offers a complete array of programs that are fully accredited, at the highest level by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. Henderson's programs and services are recognized for their excellence, effectiveness, and pioneering treatment, by local, state, national and international authorities.
Henderson is honored to be one of six organizations nationwide implementing "Intentional Care Employee Performance Standards," developed by Advocates, Incorporated and Patricia E. Deegan, Ph.D. This approach bridges the gap between the principals of recovery and personal empowerment in the real-world application of direct service staff and their supervisors. Henderson is proud to have started Florida's first Assertive Community Treatment Team known as PATH (Positive Alternatives to Hospitalization). The ACT model has become the state's best-practice model and Henderson was awarded an additional FACT team through competitive bidding, scoring the highest ever on the state's bid response.
Henderson is actively involved in assisting individuals to regain control of their lives. We help people reintegrate into their communities and re-connect with friends and families. Our client's range from toddlers to elders, and no one is turned away, regardless of their ability to pay. Role Recovery and other Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles are embedded in our service delivery system and have helped numerous people regain or learn new roles and achieve their dreams in the areas of vocation, socialization, education, and housing opportunities.
Henderson is also honored to be one of 60 sites selected nationwide by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) as a research site for the study of the newer, more effective classes of anti-psychotic medications.
